Parkrun is a national initiative where a timed 5km run takes place every week in a local park.
It is hoped to start one up in Eaton Park on 7th August.
The 5km run is free and open to everyone whether they walk, run or jog the distance. Eaton Park has been chosen as it is accessible for buggys and wheelchairs too, meaning that everyone can participate. It is not a race, just a chance for people to get into running and find personal achievement.
Parkrun will be run by a team of five volunteers who each week mark out the route, start off the race and tag people as they cross the line. Each person's time is then recorded and uploaded to the Parkrun webpage so personal progress can be monitored.
You will need to register; please visit www.parkrun.org.uk for more information.
