The Eaton Park miniature railway

This popular feature of Eaton Park is run by the Norwich & District Society of Model Engineers. From its official opening in May 1960 it has carried thousands of happy travellers round the elevated track and, from April 1974, the longer track which runs through heather and grass.

There is over one kilometre of line. The track, station and engine shed were all built and paid for by NDSME with the help of lottery funding. Here's a brief history.

NDSME volunteers constructed the collection of trolleys (or rolling stock) used in the park. They also maintain some of the engines in use, while others are privately owned.

NDSME has made many contributions to charities.

You can take a train ride with NDSME in Eaton Park every Sunday from Easter to the mid-October depending on the weather - the timetable is here.

This page is being developed. We will be adding details and photos of the engines and membership of the NDSME as they become available.
