About Eaton Park

Eaton Park is the largest of Norwich's historic parks lying to the west of the City centre. It's one of the City's finest green spaces with magnificent trees and many facilities for use by the public. Entering the main gates from South Park Avenue near the Colman Road junction, you'll see a large circular area of well-tended flowerbeds, leading to the bowling and croquet greens and tennis courts. The miniature railway is near this entrance. The built area in the centre of the park is circular, with a rotunda surrounded by seating on an open gravelled space. The buildings house the café (open daily from 11 - 5), changing rooms and toilets. To the south side you'll find the lily pond and the model boating pond. There are several pitches for football, lacrosse, rugby and cricket. The popular children's play area is on the North Park Avenue side of the Park and going west down the same path is the cycle speedway track. The bottom third of the Park, bordered by Bluebell Road, is wilder and is the site of the pitch and putt course. Other facilities this end of the Park include a skateboard park, netball court and the Community Centre which is the meeting place for several groups.

Eaton Park has something for everyone - whether for organised sports or other activities or just to fly a kite, wander down the avenues of trees, sit and read, picnic on the grass or gaze at the sunset, you're sure to find peace and tranquillity in this lovely place. It's especially attractive for children, being traffic-free and safe. These pages introduce you to the history and facilities of the Park. You'll find links to some of these plus a list of events organised during the summer by Norwich City Council.

We're sure you will enjoy your visit - and don't forget to visit the café!
